Us Weekly confirmed that the couple “silently separated” in October 2021, but the 26-year-old model and 28-year-old singer certainly served up some fashion forward moments during their on-again off-again relationship. 

Hadid and the “Pillowtalk” singer, who began dating in December 2015, made it clear from the get-go that they were all about following the trends: be it bomber jackets, ripped jeans or leather jackets. 

Even though their laidback looks took center stage, the duo proved that they bring out all the stops for a night out on the town. For their red carpet debut at the 2016 Met Gala, which was themed, “Fashion in Age of Technology,” they opted for traditionally techno ensembles — coordinating their looks all the while. The Tommy Hilfiger ambassador dazzled in a simply stunning gown by the designer and Malik turned heads with a mechanical-looking arm created by Versace.

While the former couple looked fabulous in fancy frocks, they kept things casual for the majority of their relationship. They were frequently spotting roaming around the streets of New York City in color-coordinated, layered looks that were typically tied together with a base of black. 

For example, when the pair was spotting roaming around the Big Apple in September 2016, Hadid rocked some leather leggings, which she paired with a denim jacket, while Malik looked comfortable and casual in black jeans and a bomber jacker. 

Flash forward to 2017, and the duo took on Paris Fashion Week hand-in-hand. While en route to a Vogue dinner, the model stunned in a houndstooth short suit, which she accessorized with thigh-high black boots and a matching belt. The “Dusk Till Dawn” singer, for his part, opted for leather jeans and yellow sweatshirt. 

The former couple maintained their undeniably cool fashion flair after becoming parents to daughter Khai, whom they welcomed in September 2020. 

And with a little one in the mix (and a lack of sleep), the pair chose comfort over all else. Hadid took to Instagram in January to wish her former beau a happy birthday — and it’s safe to say that their outfits in the image were, um, something else. 

Hadid, for her part, teamed a fuzzy pink Prada bucket hat with unicorn slippers, while Zayn was seen rocking orange overalls, a beanie and Nike kicks.
