Aaron Boone said he was leaving spring training due to coronavirus concerns earlier this week, but a few Yankees continue to work out at Steinbrenner Field.

Among them to show up Thursday was DJ LeMahieu, who told reporters he plans to remain in Tampa during the shutdown rather than return to his home state up north.

“All the gyms in Michigan are closed and it is cold,” LeMahieu said, according to Post beat writer George King. “It’s nice to be outside and working out. I think this is the best place to be right now.”

Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Miguel Andujar, Tyler Wade and Mike Ford also were among the Yankees seen arriving at the spring-training complex Thursday. GM Brian Cashman also remains in Tampa.

“I guess personally we’re doing OK. But it’s a serious situation I don’t think anyone saw coming,” LeMahieu said. “We’re doing what we can.”

Two minor leaguers in the Yankees’ organization already have tested positive for COVID-19. With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommending avoiding crowds larger than 50 people, LeMahieu added that all necessary precautions are being taken by those sharing the facility.

“Everyone’s wearing gloves, giving each other space, doing everything we can to stay safe and at the same time getting a little bit of work in,” LeMahieu said. “A lot of rehab guys are coming in to do their thing. They’re leaving it open mostly for the rehab guys”

The 31-year-old infielder added that he expects to stay in Tampa “for the foreseeable future,” with his wife, Jordyn.

“I really don’t want to go home. I’ll stay here,” he said. “Personally, it keeps me sane, at least work out and do some baseball stuff.”

Asked if he and the other players have been speculating when the MLB season might begin, LeMahieu replied: “I don’t think so. We want to play as soon as possible. But I don’t know.”
