        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>They’re gonna be having a real Keke at this year’s VMAs.</p><p>As in Keke Palmer.</p><p>The &#8220;<strong>Hustlers</strong>&#8221; actress-singer, 26, has been announced as the host of the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, which will take place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Aug. 30.</p><p>&#8220;We’re thrilled to have the multitalented Keke Palmer as this year’s &#8216;VMAs&#8217; host,&#8221; said Bruce Gillmer, president of music, music talent, programming and events for ViacomCBS Media Networks, which operates MTV. “Keke is an energetic force and a quadruple threat with unmatched comedic wit who will make this year’s show truly unforgettable.”</p><p>The 37th annual VMAs will take the Moon Person into uncharted territory as the first major awards show to be held completely at a venue since the <strong>coronavirus</strong> pandemic began.</p><p>BTS, J Balvin and Doja Cat were the <strong>first performers announced</strong>. K-pop group BTS will make its debut VMAs performance, taking the stage to sing its new English-only single &#8220;Dynamite,&#8221; which will be released Aug. 31.</p><p>BTS is up for three VMAs (best pop, best K-pop and best choreography), as is <strong>Doja Cat</strong> (song of the year, PUSH best new artist and best direction), while <strong>J Balvin</strong> has four nominations (best collaboration and three nods for best Latin music video).</p><p><strong>&#8220;Rain on Me&#8221; divas</strong> Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande <strong>lead the contenders</strong> with nine nominations each, followed by Billie Eilish and the Weeknd with six nods apiece.</p><p>And as this year’s host, Palmer, who turns 27 on Aug. 26, will have a birthday celebration to remember.</p>]]></content:encoded>
