        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span >Kanye West claimed he&#8217;s &#8220;not putting no more music out till I’m done with my contract with Sony and Universal&#8221; on Twitter Monday night.</span></p><p>&#8220;Vivendi family I’m in Calabassas,&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/1305660448046329856" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">he then tweeted</a>, apparently trying to reach the French conglomerate that owns Universal. West&#8217;s GOOD label, as well as Roc-A-Fella and Def Jam, which put out the bulk of his records before the GOOD imprint was established, are all owned by Universal.</p><p>&#8220;I need a [public] apology from J Cole and Drake to start with immediately,&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/1305662213290561536" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">he continued in a separate tweet</a>, adding, &#8220;I’m Nat Turner &#8230; I’m fighting for us.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;I’m the 2nd richest black man in America,&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/1305662539368259584">another tweet added</a>, though West eventually deleted that one. &#8220;I need all my people with me for us to get free.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;I’m waiting to meet with [Shawn] Carter also,&#8221; West then tweeted, referring to Jay-Z.</p><p>West eventually pivoted from contractual matters to more general concerns, pleading for unity and organization among his peers, <a href="https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/1305667791089840128" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">writing at one point</a>, &#8220;no more dissing each other on labels we don’t own.&#8221;</p><p>West sued the Sony/ATV-owned EMI Music Publishing, along with Universal Music Group, Roc-A-Fella and Def Jam in January 2019, looking for a way out of his contract. <strong>Billboard reported</strong> that the suit was settled for an undisclosed amount in October.</p><p>&#8220;I need to see everybody’s contracts at Universal and Sony,&#8221; West continued. &#8220;<span >The music industry and the NBA are modern day slave ships. </span>I’m the new Moses.&#8221;</p><p>West&#8217;s convalescence from <strong>texting-related hand strain</strong> must have been a short one.</p>]]></content:encoded>
