It was the latest poor outing from the left-hander, who prior to this season signed a two-year deal worth at least $5.15 million. Wilson dealt with shoulder tightness at the beginning of the season and has struggled badly so far.

In his last nine outings, Wilson has allowed 10 runs — eight earned — including four homers in 8 ⅓ innings.

The worst came Friday, when he was called upon to attempt to preserve a one-run lead in the 10th with Aaron Boone opting to not use Aroldis Chapman for a second inning.

Wilson was one strike away from picking up the save, but a 2-2 pitch was called a ball and Robbie Grossman hit the next pitch out for a two-run shot that sent the Yankees to their third loss in four games.

Wilson and Boone said after the game that Wilson’s fastball had been lacking life and Wilson said his shoulder felt good.

Albert Abreu, who had just been optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to make room for Saturday’s starter Deivi Garcia, was recalled to take Wilson’s spot on the roster.

The Yankees are also due to get Zack Britton back from the 60-day IL. He’s been out since undergoing elbow surgery to remove a bone chip in March. Britton was scheduled to have a rehab outing with Double-A Somerset on Saturday. Boone has said they would like Britton to have around five rehab outings before he rejoins the team.
