It was a TV hit.

Actor Frank Whaley has accused Hollywood legend Jon Voight of slapping him while they worked on the crime drama “Ray Donovan” together. The allegations come after the 81-year-old Oscar winner and father of actress Angelina Jolie lent his voice to the Republican National Convention on Monday.

“F - - k Jon Voight,” Whaley, 57, tweeted Monday in a heated Twitter tirade that garnered more than 69,000 likes as of Tuesday morning. “On ‘Ray Donovan’ he slapped me across the face in the middle of a scene because he couldn’t keep up, then denied doing it.”

The “Swimming with Sharks” star added that Voight “forgot about the still photographer who was on set” and even included a pic of the “Anaconda” actor allegedly smacking Whaley across the face on set of the hit Showtime series.

On the now-canceled show, Voight portrays the menacing family patriarch Mickey Donovan, who — spoiler alert — memorably murders Whaley’s nosey FBI agent Van Miller during Season 1.

Twitter

“Bottom line: Jon Voight is a major dick,” wrote Whaley. He added the hashtag “#RNCConvention2020,” referencing the staunch Trump supporter’s intro to the Republican National Convention. During Voight’s laudatory narration, the “Midnight Cowboy” actor described the president as “a man who cares, a man who loves America and all Americans.”

Needless to say, Whaley’s allegations drew mixed reactions on Twitter.

“Somebody slapped someone during the filming of a scene?” snarked conservative pundit Mindy Robinson. “Get out of here, no one’s ever seen that on TV ever.”

“Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” star Dean Cain even suggested that Whaley was asking for it. “He slapped you — that’s quite clear,” he wrote. “The reason he slapped you remains a mystery . . . although I have an idea.”

However, others rallied to Whaley’s defense. “You should’ve absolutely stomped that old man’s genitals into dust for that, sir,” tweeted “The Outlaw Nation” host John Rocha. “No one has the right to do that to ya over a scene in a TV show of all things. We need to call out all these fools parading around on sets abusing actors, production staff and others.”

Reps for Voight did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
