The “Real Housewives of New York” fixture, 56, shared on Heather McDonald’s “Juicy Scoop” podcast that she and Steven had planned to tell Ally the truth after she graduated from college, but that she ended up finding out on her own while snooping through Jill’s emails before her senior year at Vanderbilt University.

“[My mom] said, ‘We were never going to tell you like this and we didn’t know when the right time was, but basically, your dad’s your dad, but we had a difficult time having you and we used a sperm donor,’” Ally said on the podcast. “And I never in a million years would have thought that. Like, I had no inkling.”

When McDonald asked how the bombshell made her feel, Ally said that she was “shocked,” explaining: “I don’t think I was ever really mad, I was more just surprised.”

She was, however, mad at the family member whose alleged emails with Jill sparked the conversation, claiming the unnamed person’s correspondences asked questions like, “Why is Ally the fattest in the Shapiro family?” and “Why does Ally have blue eyes and no one else does?”

Ally noted she’s not in a rush to meet her sperm donor or any potential siblings.

“I didn’t have a say in when I was told and how I was told or who my siblings are now,” she said. “I feel like I can choose now when I want to meet this guy and what our relationship is and boundaries … I think I want to meet him when the timing is right for both of us. I feel like now’s not the right time.”

Following her divorce from Steven, Jill was married to Bobby Zarin from 2000 until his death from cancer in 2018.
