Jessica Mulroney’s TV show about second weddings was dropped by Canadian network CTV after lifestyle blogger Sasha Exeter accused the fashion stylist and close friend of Meghan Markle of “textbook white privilege” earlier this week.

“Bell Media and CTV encourages our entire team including our on-air talent to practice respect, inclusivity, and allyship as we pledge to work better and more openly to listen to and amplify Black voices, and not to minimize them,” the network said in a statement on Twitter Thursday.

“Because recent conduct by one of our shows hosts, Jessica Mulroney conflicts with our commitment to diversity and equality, CTV has removed I Do Redo from all Bell Media channels and platforms effective immediately.”

Mulroney, 40, shared her own statement on her Instagram Stories shortly after. “The events that have transpired over the last few days have made it clear that I have work to do,” she wrote. “I realize more than ever how being a white, privileged woman has put me far ahead of so many, and in particular those in the Black community.”

Continued the stylist, “I respect the decision of CTV and have decided to step away from my professional engagements at this time. I’m going to take this time to reflect, learn and focus on my family.”

On Wednesday, Exeter posted a lengthy Instagram video claiming that Mulroney “took offense” when she encouraged her followers to speak up about the Black Lives Matter movement, “wrongly assumed” the call to action was directed at her, and exhibited “very problematic behavior” that included a written threat.

“Listen, I am by no means calling Jess a racist but what I will say is this: She is very well aware of her wealth, her perceived power and privilege because of the color of her skin,” the So Sasha blogger said. “And that, my friends, gave her the momentary confidence to come for my livelihood in writing. Textbook white privilege, really, in my personal opinion.”

The stylist — whose husband Ben is the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney — apologized in the comments of the video, but Exeter later shared a screenshot of a direct message from Mulroney threatening to sue for libel.

“I have no intention of pursuing any legal action,” Mulroney wrote in her statement on Thursday. “I was wrong, and for that I am truly sorry.”

In a separate statement posted to her Instagram feed on Thursday, the “Good Morning America” contributor wrote that Exeter “rightfully” called her out “for not doing enough when it came to engaging in the important and difficult conversation around race and injustice in our society.”

Mulroney apologized in her post, and promised to “do better” moving forward. She also said she plans to temporarily step away from social media in favor of “giving [her] microphone to Black voices,” and invited Exeter specifically to take over her accounts “whenever she is comfortable” to share her story.
