        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Jerry Bishop, who announced the iconic Judge Judy daytime courtroom show for 24 years, passed away on Tuesday after heart complications and kidney failure, his granddaughter <strong>told the Hollywood Reporter</strong>.</p><p>He was 84.</p><p>The Hartford, Conn. born Bishop got a degree in broadcast journalism at Emerson College, before transitioning into radio.</p><p>In 1963, he began working at San Diego&#8217;s KCBQ, moving two years later to KLAC in Los Angeles with his wife, Velma Joan Leventhal, who passed away in 2007.</p><p>Bishop signed on to work with <strong>Judge Judy Sheindlin</strong> when her show first aired back in 1996.</p><p>He remained a permanent fixture of the show until his death. &#8221; Everybody loved him &#8230; He had a golden heart and a generous spirit. I adored him and will miss him,&#8221; Sheindlin said in a statement.</p>]]></content:encoded>
