Mets ace Jacob deGrom left Sunday’s start after five innings with right side tightness, with the team describing his departure as precautionary.

DeGrom, who was scratched from Tuesday’s start with lat inflammation, threw two warmup pitches prior to the top of the sixth inning before he paused and talked with the trainer. He was perfect through four innings but walked three batters, gave up a double and allowed a run in the fifth. He finished with 68 pitches.

The 32-year-old two-time Cy Young winner said Wednesday he was feeling good after being scratched and that he was trying to be safe early in the season.

Miguel Castro replaced deGrom with the Mets leading the Diamondbacks 2-1.
