On Monday, the 47-year-old “Luther” star took to social media to reveal the news.

“This morning I tested positive for Covid 19,” he captioned a video of himself and his wife, Sabrina Dhowre, 30. “I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic.”

In the video, “The Wire” actor tells fans, “It sucks,” adding that “Sabrina hasn’t been tested and she’s doing OK.”

He continued, “I got tested because I realized I was exposed to someone who also tested positive. I found out last Friday they tested positive and quarantined myself immediately and got the results back today.”

He then encouraged fans to really think about “social distancing” as well as making sure they are washing their hands.

“We’ve told our families, they are very supportive,” he said. “We’ve told our colleagues and, you know, transparency is probably the best thing for this right now.”

At the end of the video, he says it’s a time for solidarity and to start thinking about each other.

“This is real,” he said.

Last week, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were the first celebrities to reveal they tested positive for the virus amid the outbreak. They were quarantined in Australia, assuring fans they were being well taken care of.
