Model Iskra Lawrence isn’t giving up her glam now that she’s a mom — but she is being more mindful when it comes to her makeup.

The British model, 29, gave birth to her first child with boyfriend Philip Payne in April, but says her new-mom education started when she got pregnant.

“Reading up on pregnancy and breastfeeding, I was really shocked how I committed to nine months of eating a bit cleaner and moving towards clean skincare and deodorant. I don’t want to say that after I gave birth I thought I could go back to normal; however, when I was reading about breastfeeding, it did say I have to stay away from certain ingredients,” Lawrence said during a virtual event for clean beauty brand Catrice on Tuesday.

The Europe-based brand is a perfect fit for the new mother; the vegan, cruelty-free company adheres to EU Cosmetics Regulation standards, which restricts over 1,500 ingredients from being used in beauty products (the US, by comparison, restricts only 11).

Lawrence, who is originally from Worchester, United Kingdom, revealed that she orders baby formula from overseas to ensure it’s healthier for her son, and has been using as many natural skincare and makeup products as she can to eliminate “toxins and nasties” from her system.

As for makeup, the model and activist now gravitates toward double-duty products for the sake of convenience, since she’s strapped for time with a newborn at home, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

“I feel like the difference [between my old and new routines] is that before I had a baby, it was a choice to go low-maintenance; now, it’s just survival. The quicker and easier I can throw something on, [the better,]” she said.

Lawrence’s favorite product from Catrice’s latest launch is the Clean ID Hydro BB Cream ($10), which she says evens skin tone and provides coverage while also providing hydration, thanks to the addition of shea butter.

“I feel confident with or without [makeup], but I think having a boost and having certain products that make you feel refreshed, especially if you aren’t getting much rest, is important,” Lawrence concluded. “I think we all deserve that little boost.”
