In a virtual appearance on British music radio station Capital FM on Monday, singer Halsey revealed that she recently broke her ankle — no, not while performing onstage — but while doing regular household chores.

“I pulled the door down to load the dishwasher,” she said after one of the show’s hosts asked her what happened.

“And the kitchen floor was wet and I tripped over the dishwasher door. And after, you know, 2,000 live shows, where I’m jumping around for two hours, I finally fractured my ankle. In the kitchen. At my house.”

“That’s not very showbiz, is it?” quips another host in response.

After that virtual radio appearance, Halsey took to Instagram to show her nearly 20 million followers a selfie that shows her swollen ankle.

“I took my brace off my ankle cause it was itchy and now I need to put it back,” she wrote in the caption.

That isn’t her only ill. On Twitter, she also said she broke two toes on the other foot following the ankle injury.

“Waddling like a penguin,” she said.

Fans are nevertheless in awe of her athletic prowess, with a recent thread devoted entirely to her impressive stage acrobatics.
