“ABC News” chief anchor and political correspondent George Stephanopoulos’ reps are reportedly lobbying for him to take over the hosting gig, according to The Wrap.

The iconic game show host died Sunday at age 80 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

An ABC source denied that Stephanopoulos is pursuing the hosting role to The Post, saying: “Of course he’s not lobbying…how disrespectful would that be to Alex’s family.”

According to The Wrap’s report, the 59-year-old, who also co-anchors “Good Morning America” and hosts Sunday’s “This Week” on ABC, reportedly has been “actively” chasing the role. ABC, which has the syndication rights to the game show, will have to decide on a replacement with the game show’s distributor, CBS Television, and producer Sony Television.

In May, Stephanopoulos told Howard Stern that he was interested in the role, but whoever takes over for Trebek would have “big shoes to fill.”

“I think it would be a lot of fun,” he told Stern. “But I like what I’m doing, too.”

Trebek was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March 2019, but continued his hosting duties despite having “great pain.”

Countless tributes for Trebek have poured in since his passing, including from fellow game show hosts and stars within the community, like champ Ken Jennings. In September, Jennings, 46, was brought on as a consulting producer for the long-running quiz show, leading some fans to speculate he would be Trebek’s successor.

The final “Jeopardy!” episode will air Christmas Day.
