Lisa Kudrow revealed that the reunion’s rumored host, the embattled Ellen DeGeneres, may not in fact be helming the special when it eventually premieres. The sitcom’s reunion was initially set to premiere as part of the HBO Max launch this spring, but the shooting schedule was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

On a new episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Cohen asked Kudrow: “Is there a host for that? Is Ellen — did I hear that Ellen DeGeneres was hosting the reunion?”

“Um, you may, I don’t know,” Kudrow, 57, responded. “I don’t know that that’s been decided.”

It was reported in February that DeGeneres, 62, was likely to host the hotly anticipated reunion, conducting interviews with Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer.

DeGeneres has been under fire since May when a Twitter thread alleging that she was not as nice in real life as she is on the show and that her set was a toxic environment went viral. In July, former staff members accused top executives of acting inappropriately — and three senior producers got the boot in August as a result.

Mariah Carey also came forward to admit that she was “extremely uncomfortable” that DeGeneres pressured her to drink champagne to prove that she was pregnant during a 2008 appearance.

DeGeneres is set to address the recent allegations when her talk show returns on September 21.
