The first season featured Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, as well as Vishal Parvani and Richa Sadana’s engagement party, known as a roka ceremony in Punjabi culture — and there was plenty of stunning fashion to enjoy along with the drama.

“I would consider [the engagement ceremony] the same way as a Western wedding. That’s how much work is in it,” Parvani told Page Six Style. “It’s almost a full-day affair; you have the pre-function, ceremony and reception, there’s dancing. It’s a lot of work and stress.”

The couple matched in embellished navy blue outfits for the event — which was held three years after Parvani proposed to Sadana the Western way, presenting her with an engagement ring with a diamond taken from a necklace his paternal grandmother passed down to his mother.

Sadana even accessorized with the same necklace that her mother, the notably skeptical Lopa, wore on her own wedding day when she was just 19 years old, perhaps indicating that she would give the union her sought-after blessing after all.

The duo exchanged a pair of rings as part of the pakki misri custom in Parvani’s Sindhi faith, marking the official start of their engagement. Friends also performed a dance choreographed by co-star Monica Vaswani, the group’s de facto cultural consultant.

“Typically in Indian culture, it’s customary that we do some sort of a dance for the bride and the groom, or they’ll join in. It’s a fun show that we put on for them and their family,” Vaswani told us. “I was so excited; it’s one of the most exciting things we can do to pitch in and help.”

Vaswani’s style has already earned her plenty of fans. The star says that most of her everyday looks on the show come from Zara or Nasty Gal, but that her most stunning traditional looks come straight from India — with her father’s help via FaceTime. A blush two-piece lehenga choli, in particular, drew admiration from co-star Bali Chainani at the Diwali celebration.

Chainani herself, meanwhile, put a sexy spin on tradition with a rainbow-colored sari covered in butterflies for the big event.

Though Parvani’s sherwani from Le Rosh Boutique in Jakarta went perfectly with Sadana’s red top and navy skirt by Neeta Lulla at their party, the couple isn’t quite as coordinated when it comes to their wedding plans, and have yet to set a date.

“That’s still a ways away,” Parvani said with a laugh. “Nothing yet, but when I know it, everyone else will know it.”
