        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Elon Musk on Tuesday became the fourth-richest man on earth after a surge in Tesla shares helped him leapfrog French luxury titan Bernard Arnault.</p><p>The eccentric tech tycoon &#8212; who added $7.8 billion to his net worth on Monday, thanks to a more than 9-percent jump in Tesla&#8217;s stock &#8212; is now worth $84.8 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index.</p><p>That leaves Musk trailing only Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg. Musk has added added $57.2 billion to his fortune since the beginning of the year as <strong>Tesla shares have soared</strong> amid rising production and demand for its electric cars.</p><p>The automaker continued its supercharged run on Tuesday, adding another 3.2 percent in the first few hours of trading and bringing shares to an all-time high of $1,911.45.</p><p>Tesla shares are up more than 340 percent year-to-date. With a market cap of more than $350 billion, it is by far the most valuable automaker in the world.</p>]]></content:encoded>
