Disney announced Thursday that it will release its new films “The Call of the Wild” and “Downhill” on paid streaming platforms starting Friday, March 27, just over a month after they first hit theaters.

“The Call of the Wild” is a family drama starring Harrison Ford, based on the Jack London novel about a kidnapped house dog who learns to embrace his natural roots. “Downhill” stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell as a married couple whose relationship gets tested on a European ski trip.

Both will go on sale on platforms such as Amazon and iTunes for slightly cheaper prices than the standard $19.99. “The Call of the Wild” will cost $14.99 and “Downhill” will go for $9.99.


Disney has led the way when it comes to studios pushing films early to streaming platforms due to the coronavirus pandemic. After adding “Frozen II” to Disney+ early, the studio also made Pixar’s “Onward” available for purchase months in advance.
