Yankees fans will have to wait a little longer to see Derek Jeter inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame — but at least some will get to see it live.

The Hall of Fame announced Wednesday that this summer’s induction ceremony for the 2020 class — which was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic — has been pushed from July to Sept. 8. The delay will allow some fans to attend the event, as it was originally going to be a closed event.

The postponed ceremony will be held on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, N.Y. in front of limited crowds as an outdoor ticketed event.

Jeter is joined in the class of 2020 by Larry Walker, Marvin Miller and Ted Simmons.

No candidates were elected for Induction in 2021.

The Hall of Fame’s Annual Awards Presentation, which was also cancelled in 2020, will be held on July 24 and will remain an indoor, television-only event.

Fans wills be able to attend the induction ceremony for free, though lawn seating will require a reserved ticket.

A limited number of tickets will go on sale July 12 at 11 a.m., with designated seating areas for fans vaccinated and unvaccinated against COVID-19. Health and safety guidelines are still being determined.
