After a brief visit from the training staff and manager Aaron Boone, Frazier remained in the game and struck out swinging on a full count the next inning, but was replaced in the bottom of the fifth.

The 26-year-old dealt with concussion symptoms after running into a wall covered by a chain link fence while playing left field against the Pirates in Bradenton, Fla. just over three years ago.

Frazier ended up being affected by symptoms all the way into the 2019 season before finally feeling right again last season, when he developed into one of the Yankees’ top offensive threats — and improved enough defensively that he was named a Gold Glove finalist.

Prior to this spring training, both Boone and general manager Brian Cashman said Frazier was the starting left fielder.
