Chad Johnson‘s arraignment in his domestic violence case was postponed for three days due to the Chinese virus pandemic, but the reality star’s attorney tells USA GAG he suspects it may be pushed back further.

“Courtrooms see an extremely high volume of people everyday — coming from all over the city. Taken to its logical conclusion, it would seem that resuming business as usual on Friday would not achieve our society’s goal of flattening the curve,” lawyer Action Lavitch, who is based in Los Angeles, exclusively told us on Tuesday. “Transmission will likely remain high during this extremely critical time.”

The former “Bachelorette” star, 32, was previously scheduled to appear at Van Nuys Courthouse West on Tuesday, March 17, since he is facing six misdemeanor charges following an alleged dispute with his on-again, off-again girlfriend Annalise Mishler.

Rob Wilcox, a spokesperson for the Office of Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer, told Page Six on Tuesday, “The defendant should be arraigned Friday.”

Chad Johnson and Annalise MishlerGetty Images

The Los Angeles Superior Court announced in a tweet on Monday that all “non-essential” court proceedings would be suspended on Tuesday through Thursday.

Lavitch said he and his colleagues were notified Monday evening of the closures after “countless legal professionals, including attorneys, judges, court clerks and civilians lobbied for the courts to close or operate at minimum capacity.”

He said he suspects the Los Angeles court system to “ramp up” their measures in the coming days as other businesses create work-from-home systems to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.

He said of Johnson’s case, “Mr. Johnson and I both look forward to the opportunity to ensure his rights are protected and his name is rightfully cleared once this national emergency is resolved. We hope everyone remains safe and healthy in the coming weeks.”

Johnson was arrested on Feb. 24 after he allegedly became physical with Mishler.
