With beauty salons and services temporarily shuttered as the coronavirus outbreak rages on, it’s likely that your manicure has seen better days, particularly if you’re partial to gel polish.

Fortunately, celebrity nail artist Mei Kawajiri — who counts Dua Lipa and Bella and Gigi Hadid as clients and has been wowing her Instagram followers with a bevy of quarantine-inspired designs lately — is here to help.

The manicurist also known as @nailsbymei shared her tried-and-true tips for removing gel nails at home with Page Six Style; all you’ll need are cotton balls, acetone, aluminum foil, a cuticle pusher and cuticle oil.

In the video above, watch as Kawajiri files off the top coat of each polished nail before swaddling it in an acetone-soaked cotton wad and a foil wrap. About 10 minutes later, the gel is ready to gently scrape off, and the manicurist finishes up with a swipe of hydrating oil.
