Carol Burnett has been named a temporary guardian of her grandson as her daughter, Erin Hamilton, battles substance abuse issues.

Burnett, 87, and her husband, Brian Miller, will have custody of 14-year-old Dylan through Jan. 8, 2021, People reported.

“Temporary guardians have the authority to change Dylan’s school and housing pending the next hearing date,” read the documents, obtained by the magazine.

In August, Burnett said in a court filing that she and her husband were seeking guardianship over Dylan because of Hamilton’s “severe substance abuse and addiction issues.”

At the time, she added in a statement to Page Six, “We look forward to recovery being the next stepping stone towards normalization and ask for privacy at this time to allow that process to occur.”

She and her husband noted that the temporary guardianship wouldn’t deny Dylan or his parents “proper visitation with one another.”

Dylan’s father, Tony West, also has been ruled ill-equipped to care for him as he, too, is struggling with substance abuse, People reported. Upon completion of a rehab stay, West plans to move to Nevada. He also recognizes he cannot financially support his son, according to the filing.

A rep for Burnett didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
