                  <p>Based on John Preston&apos;s book of the same name, the film &#x2014; directed by <em>The Daughter</em> helmer Simon Stone &#x2014; follows Mulligan as a wealthy widow who, during WWII-era Britain, enlists an amateur archaeologist to explore her property for hidden treasures.</p>

                  <p>Soon after, the ancient burial mounds on her rural estate begin to yield historic finds, causing a media storm and prompting her community to reckon with its past while pondering the country&apos;s uncertain future in a time of global conflict.</p>
                
                          
                   
                
                          
                  <p><em>The Dig</em> was adapted by <em>Harlots</em> and <em>Jane Eyre</em> writer Moira Buffini, with <strong>Lily Jame</strong>s, Johnny Flynn, Ben Chaplin, Ken Stott, Archie Barnes, and Monica Dolan rounding out the supporting cast. Oscar-nominated production designer Maria Djurkovic (<em><strong>The Imitation Game</strong></em>) also worked on the film alongside<em> 127 Hours</em>&apos; Academy Award-nominated editor Jon Harris.</p>
