Bruce Springsteen and American Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys will perform together at Boston’s Fenway Park for a free livestreamed event called “Streaming Outta Fenway.”

The gig will be broadcast worldwide on Friday, May 29 at 6 p.m. Eastern time on the band’s Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Twitch channels, and DropkickMurphys.com.

But the musicians won’t exactly be sharing the stage. The Boss plans to beam in from a remote location, while the Dropkick Murphys will be present in the 108-year-old ballpark. The two acts will alternate songs in a special “double play” concert.

The unprecedented event will be filmed to the empty 38,000-seat arena, marking the first stadium show in history known to be played to a live audience of zero, according to the press release.

“Streaming Outta Fenway” will go to support the Boston Resiliency Fund, Feeding America and Habitat for Humanity — Greater Boston. Viewers can donate by texting “DONATE” to 404-994-3559.

The coronavirus pandemic has become a personal matter for many artists, including E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren, who is currently wrapped up in a legal battle against an upscale New Jersey nursing home. He and his wife Amy allege that the facility’s negligence led to Amy’s mother, 83, contracting the coronavirus.

Both artists, among many others in the industry, have separately performed socially distanced shows for fans to raise money toward efforts against the coronavirus, and the Fenway Park event will be far from the last.
