Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians didn’t hold back while discussing Brady’s two costly interceptions in the Buccaneers’ 34-23 loss to the New Orleans Saints. After a quality opening drive that resulted in a Brady rushing touchdown, the former Patriots QB tossed a pick on what was an obvious miscommunication with wide receiver Mike Evans before throwing his second interception of the day early in the third quarter, which ended in a pick-six.

Pinning the blame on his starting quarterback was something Patriots head coach Bill Belichick hardly ever did publicly, if at all. Belichick would often dance around the question or muster up a non-answer to avoid piling the blame on Brady, but Arians let reporters know point-blank that it was Brady’s fault.

“One was a miscommunication between he and Mike,” Arians told reporters following the loss. “He thought Mike was going down the middle — it was a different coverage — Mike read it right. He should have been across his face, but Tom overthrew it.

“The other one was a screen pass with an outlet called. He threw the outlet and it was a pick-six. Bad decision.”

The 43-year-old Brady, who left New England for Tampa after 20 NFL seasons and six Super Bowls, completed 23 of 36 passes for 239 yards, along with two passing touchdowns on top of his rushing TD in his debut.
