Britney Spears revealed that she burned down her home gym with candles in a TikTok she posted Wednesday afternoon.

“Hi guys, I’m in my gym right now,” Spears, 38, began in a video with the title “It was an accident …”

“I haven’t been here in for like six months because I burned my gym down, unfortunately,” she continued. “I had two candles and … yeah, one thing led to another and I burned it down.”

Spears’ social media archive does appear to back up her timeline of events: At the end of October 2019, she was doing yoga in her backyard rather than in her apparently then-newly-incinerated gym. At the time, she made no mention of the conflagration, but she may have had more pressing issues on her mind: Following custody drama early in September, her father Jamie was temporarily relieved of his conservator duties, which were reinstated in January.

Earlier this year, the singer revealed a surprising progressive streak when she called for wealth redistribution and a strike amid the coronavirus outbreak. It’s unclear whether being freed from the shackles of home gym ownership contributed to her radicalization.
