Those 55 hours meant a lot, okay?

Britney Spears’ ex-husband and childhood friend Jason Alexander — whom she married and split from in the space of slightly under three days in January 2004 — was spotted at a “Free Britney” protest in Los Angeles this week.

According to a Spears-fan Twitter account, Alexander was present Wednesday outside the Los Angeles courthouse where the details of Spears’ conservatorship are being litigated. The singer has been under a forced conservatorship since 2008, with fans increasingly accusing her team of malpractice and likening her to a prisoner.

Podcaster Drew Plotkin live-streamed (via Instagram) an interview with Alexander, 38, wherein he claimed that he spoke with Spears via phone Tuesday night, and subsequently showed up to support her.

Britney Spears’ childhood friend named Jason Alexander, who she married for 55 hours in 2004, showed up for the FREE BRITNEY protest today. pic.twitter.com/F8Y8KQ7gKN

— Britney Fan (@BritneyHiatus) August 19, 2020

“She definitely wants her dad out of the picture as far as the conservatorship,” Alexander said in Plotkin’s Instagram Live, echoing comments in a recent court filing by Spears’ attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III.

Spears, 38, is “strongly opposed to having [Jamie] return as the conservator of her person,” the filing reads, and “strongly prefers” that her care manager, Jodi Montgomery, “continue in that role as [she] has done for nearly a year.”

Montgomery took over the role at Jamie’s request due to the 67-year-old’s ongoing colon problems and an altercation with his grandson, Sean Preston. Due to the pandemic, Montgomery’s role as Britney’s temporary conservator was extended until Aug. 22. Meanwhile, in July, Britney’s mother, Lynne Spears, filed documents requesting to be involved in her daughter’s finances.

Spears and Alexander were childhood friends in Kentwood, Louisiana. Their Las Vegas marriage was annulled after 55 hours. Last month, he spoke to Isaac Weishaupt of the “Conspiracy Theories & Unpopular Culture” podcast to the “Free Britney movement, saying,” Yes, she does support the #FreeBritney movement. I do know that for a fact.”

“She’s really been a prisoner,” Alexander continued, according to Newsweek. “She’s been playing along with the script, but kind of waiting it out.”

Spears’ team has not responded to Page Six’s request for comment.
