When word leaked Wednesday the NBA would vote in a 22-team plan to restart the season and officially exclude the Knicks, forward Bobby Portis did a humble-brag on Twitter.

And that turned into an online skirmish with fans who disputed his contention, with Portis making a crack about his decreased playing time and shot attempts.

On Wednesday, Portis tweeted:

“Wish I could’ve continued my good second half of the season I was having smh”

Portis was correct. After a slow start, Portis finished up well: over the last 11 games, Portis averaged 13.5 points on 52.6 percent shooting, including 41.4 percent (12 of 29) on 3-pointers.

But when a follower told him he played selfishly, the reserve big man, who stayed mostly in Arkansas during the lockdown, got his hackles up.

“Selfish? How?’’ he responded. “Got the least minutes and shot attempts since my since year in the league lol never complained always was about the team.’’

To another detractor, Portis replied on Twitter:

“Wonder how many players u say that to every year…at some point you gotta love somebody lol can’t hate every player on the Knicks just saying.’’

Portis finished in double figures (10.1 points) on 45 percent shooting and become the only Knick to play in all 66 games.

“Lol anybody that knows me knows I always been a team first guy,’’ Portis said. “Even when s–t wasn’t going my way I never complained. Y’all just be talking on here.’’

Portis defended the 21-45 final record, tweeting “Mean u can say coaching change but at the end of the day, we had 9 new players on a team that never played w each other before. So some things take a little time. Things don’t happen over night. I also did enjoy playing for Mike Miller..great guy.”

Portis’ 2020-21 team option for $15.75M is not expected to get picked up. And in this economic crisis due to the pandemic, Portis will face a solid paycut when free agency starts after the draft in mid-October.
