Lindsay, the first African-American star of ABC’s long-running franchise, has joined the “Extra” team as a full-time correspondent — and, with Travis Mills, returns to co-host “Ghosted: Love Gone Missing.” Season 2 premieres Wednesday at 9 p.m.

On the show, Lindsay and Mills help distraught people track down ex-friends and lovers who, without explanation, cut off all contact with them, a social phenomenon called “ghosting.”

“I felt like I can relate to that,” says Lindsay, 35. “I’ve been there and I know what it’s like to not have that closure, to be stuck in a spot where you’re wondering what happened. Was it me? How do I enter my next relationship?’

“Travis and I have these stories,” she says. “We can relate and we can help.”

Lindsay, who starred on Season 13 of “The Bachelorette” in 2017, says she was ghosted 11 years ago by a guy she dated on-and-off for about four years. When she tried to call him, he had changed his phone number — and completely vanished from sight.

“This was before Instagram and Twitter so there was no way of getting in touch with him,” she says. “There was no way to know what happened. Even mutual friends were like, ‘We don’t really know what’s up.’ It wasn’t until two years later — and I never had a boyfriend in-between — that I ran into him and he told me the reason he left was because he didn’t know how to end it with me.

“I couldn’t even talk about it that much because it was so embarrassing for me,” she says. “I was ashamed. The more I started talking about it the more I realized, ‘Oh my gosh, this is actually a thing that’s happening to a lot of people. This is how relationships are being handled.’”

‘I’ve been there and I know what it’s like to not have that closure.’

Lindsay says that she’s never ghosted anyone in the strict sense of the word.

“I know there are degrees of ghosting,” she says. “Maybe I went on a date with someone and I really didn’t respond to their messages afterward. Maybe they got the hint, but I never blocked anyone … I was just slow in my responses, so they understood what was happening.

“I hate to say that because I feel like somebody is going to come out the woodwork now and say, ‘Yes, actually you did.’”

Lindsay, who’s now married to Bryan Abasolo — he was a “Bachelorette” contestant when she hosted the series — was recently hired as a correspondent for “Extra” as the veteran newsmagazine enters its 27th season Sept. 8. She first joined the show, hosted by Billy Bush, as a special correspondent last year.

“I’ve had a chance to interview great people such as Spike Lee, Halle Berry, Samuel L. Jackson and Oprah Winfrey,” she says, “and to do very fun red carpets. ‘Extra’ has really trusted me with a lot and at this point I’m more interested in telling stories — and now I have that platform.”
