Apple is launching a new product next week, but it may not be the hotly anticipated 5G iPhone.

The company on Tuesday afternoon announced a surprise even scheduled for Sept. 15, with Apple’s senior vice president of marketing Greg Joswiak sharing a video of the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, Calif.

The event invite didn’t say what the event would be about, but came with a “Time Flies” tagline, suggesting that Apple may be unveiling off the latest version of its popular Watch series.

Next week’s all-digital event is Apple’s latest foray into socially distant keynotes after it held its annual annual WWDC developers conference virtually in June due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to two new Apple Watch models, Apple-watchers are also looking for the company’s first-ever over-ear headphones released under the Apple brand rather than Beats, as well as a possible new iPad Air model.

Apple annual iPhone keynote is traditionally held in September, but this year may be delayed a month due to production bottlenecks in Asia caused by the pandemic.

Apple typically sends engineers back and forth from its offices to its factories in China to finalize designs in the lead-up to the product’s release. But coronavirus lockdowns led Apple to restrict employee travel to hotbeds of the disease in recent months.

Reports have Apple’s iPhone event slated for the end of October, where it is expected to announce four new iPhones, with 5G models not hitting stores until November.

All of the new phones are expected to feature high-end OLED displays, but Apple is rumored to not be including a complimentary power adapter or headphones in the box.
