“I am a big De Niro fan,” Cuomo, 62, said on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” “He is just phenomenal. The breadth of his ability — just look at all the roles he’s played. He can do anything.”

Earlier in the week, De Niro, 76, said he’d be up to play Cuomo.

During his appearance on “The Late Show,” the governor also joked that he would like to take inspiration from one of De Niro’s most famous roles — Travis Bickle in “Taxi Driver”  — at his next press conference.

“When a reporter asks me a question … ‘You talkin’ to me? You, talkin’ to me?!’” he said with a laugh. “Oh boy, that’d be a treat. I’m a big De Niro fan. He’s a genius.”

Colbert also pointed out to Cuomo that Brad Pitt is already up for the part of Dr. Anthony Fauci in a potential film — since the medical expert threw the idea out there and Pitt then played him on “Saturday Night Live.”
