In the upcoming Showtime series “The Comedy Room,” Prinze’s pal Jimmie Walker recounted the tale, explaining that the “Chico and the Man” star became upset when Travolta took his place gracing the cover of teen magazines in the 1970s.

Walker claims Prinze called him one day and announced, “We’ve got to kill John Travolta.”

“He says, ‘I’m going to kill this guy! I’m the biggest star on TV,’” the “Good Times” star, 73, recalled. “I said, ‘Well, a lot of people are on TV. I’m on TV.’”

Walker says Prinze shot back, “You’re not bigger than me man. I’m the biggest guy, I’m the best guy. Everyone knows me. I’m the funniest guy.”

After failed attempts to talk him out of the hare-brained scheme, Walker says they drove to Travolta’s apartment, but thankfully the “Pulp Fiction” actor wasn’t home. However, it didn’t stop Prinze from firing three arrows into Travolta’s door, Walker said.

“I’m sure to this day John Travolta was thinking, I wonder what happened in L.A. with those shots fired through my door. What was that about?” Walker added.

Reps for Travolta didn’t get back to us.

Prinze died of a self-inflicted gunshot in 1977 when he was just 22. His son, “Scooby-Doo” star Freddie Prinze Jr., was less than a year old when his father died.

“The Comedy Store” directed by Mike Binder premieres on October 4.
