Mindy Kaling, Demi Lovato and Jameela Jamil and more stars offer up a healthy dose of body-positivity and self-love — read more

As these Hollywood celebrities show in their words, actions and online posts, the body-positivity movement has officially entered the mainstream. Well-known activists have used social media as a tool to spread more messages of self-love to their fans.

Minda Kaling made a splash when she posted a series of photos of herself wearing different two-piece bathing suits in July 2019. In the caption, she reminded people that every body is a bikini body.

“IDK who needs to hear this but… 🗣 WEAR A BIKINI IF YOU WANT TO WEAR A BIKINI. You don’t have to be a size 0. Swipe for my storytime and have a great summer ❤️,” wrote the Office alum.

Demi Lovato has also been honest with fans about their past struggles with eating disorders and body image. The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer, who came out as non-binary in 2021, previously opened up about how they learned to love themselves.

“I’ve been working on myself for the past year, more so than I’ve ever worked on myself,” Lovato said on The Ellen Degeneres Show in January 2018. “I’ve really surrendered to the process of just learning to love yourself, and I feel like it shows through my pictures. I post more bathing suit pictures online. I want to show my fans that it’s possible that they can get to that self-love too.”

Meanwhile, Jameela Jamil has used her voice to speak up about body-neutrality and body-positivity. The I Weight movement founder frequently calls out celebrities who share sponsored posts for questionable diet products on social media.

“Careful on social media. A lot of celebs and influencers acting like they know what they’re talking about when it comes to diet and health, and that they’re your friend… (friends don’t sell you laxatives…),” she wrote in an Instagram post in December 2018.

The actress has also continued to post reminders to her followers that they are perfect the way they are.

“Even the bits you were told were “wrong.” They aren’t wrong, they’re f–king normal,” the Good Place alum captioned a photo of herself via Instagram in April 2019. “They’re human. Thank your body today. It’s your friend. Whether or not fashion and film told you it is… 💁🏽‍♀️ These are my babe-bumps.”

Kourtney Kardashian turns 42 years old on April 18, 2021, and though she’s always been fit, her body somehow looks better and better every day.

As anyone who keeps up with Keeping Up With the Kardashians knows, the eldest of the Kardashian-Jenner crew is the family leader when it comes to all things nutrition, health and wellness. Us even tried to track every diet the Poosh founder has ever recommended. (Spoiler alert: from intermittent fasting to no-sugar and gluten-free to apple cider vinegar shots, it was a lot!)

While Kim Kardashian may get attention for her ample butt and tiny waist and Khloé Kardashian for her dedication to weight loss and maintenance, Kourt has focused on making sure her entire body is fit and healthy inside and out since getting pregnant with son Mason in 2009. (She also has daughter Penelope and son Reign with former love Scott Disick.)

Gone are the 5-foot-1 star’s partying and club days! As she’s gotten older, Kourtney has focused on consuming fresh, organic, whole foods and ditching booze. “She’s really good with food,” a source told Us in October 2018. “She doesn’t drink a lot of alcohol, but will occasionally when she is out.” And everything she consumes is planned. “She plots her meals she has for the day,” said the source. “She brings snacks wherever she goes — all gluten-free. She doesn’t snack too much though.”

With age also comes wisdom. If the entrepreneur falls off track, “she’ll step up her workouts, but won’t go on any fad diet like keto,” the source shared. That technique pays off. See: Her sexy nude photoshoot for GQ Mexico’s December 2018 issue.

As for those workouts that she powers through, her commitment is off the charts! “Kourtney works her butt off,” the source told Us of the reality star’s fitness regimen. “Wherever she is, she makes sure to exercise every morning. She does a mix of cardio and strength training. She is still working with [trainer] Don-A-Matrix when she is home, and has a routine of exercises she does when she is on the road.”

Without a doubt, her impressive efforts have paid off! Scroll through to see photos of Kourtney from 2002 to present day — and pick up a healthy habit or body-positive tip of your own!

These stars have all admitted to getting plastic surgery. Find out who has regrets and who’s happy with going under the knife — details, photos

It’s often thought that celebrities who have had plastic surgery hide that fact at all costs. But as stars from Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Ariel Winter to Kelly Rowland and Courteney Cox have shown, that assumption isn’t always right.

Some Hollywood actors and reality TV stars — hello, Real Housewives! — who have gone under the knife are proud of it and love to celebrate the fact. Others simply don’t want to perpetuate the stigma of shame that can come from getting aesthetic procedures and see no point in keeping them a secret. Then, of course, in cases like Heidi Montag’s 10 procedures in one day, the before and after pictures would have made a denial impossible!

Sometimes, a little nip/tuck or some facial fillers can help with aging; but other celebs have talked about getting nose jobs at a young age or breast enhancements or reductions that have helped with everything from confidence to pain relief. In other cases, the reason is purely aesthetic — liposuction for better abs for the best beach body possible; injections for plumper lips; chin implants for a balanced look. And in still other instances, stars such as TV journalist Julie Chen were told changing their features would help their careers.

At times, stars admit they’ve gone too far with face-lifts or have had plastic surgery nightmares. Montag, for example, had developed health problems from her surgery and had changed her mind about beauty ideals. After getting some of her enhancements reversed by a different plastic surgeon, she told Us in 2013 that she had even considered not doing that. “I just didn’t want to go back under surgery because it was just so traumatic and something I never — I’m so sick of being the surgery girl. It was the last thing I wanted to do: re-bring that all up; it’s just been such a nightmare in my life,” she said. But she realized she had to do it: “I was like, ‘Well it’s not really a choice because now it’s affecting my health.’”

Jillian Michaels, on the other hand, has talked about the joy of getting a nose job at the age of 16. “And I’ll be honest,” she said in 2015, “it did change my life.”

Scroll through to see celebrity plastic surgery before and after photos — and hear what these stars had to say about the process and changes.

A-list stars from Bradley Cooper to Robert Downey Jr. to Kristen Johnston and Russell Brand have been open about their struggles with alcohol, illegal drugs and other substance addictions. Some say they want to help other alcoholics and addicts find the courage they need to start their sobriety journey, while others say they’re simply grateful and want to live their lives in the open.
