In a photo posted by Sean McEnroe, Tatum’s 32-year-old son with tennis ace John McEnroe, the “Love Story” star, 79, looks frail as he poses alongside Tatum, 56, and her Kevin, 34, Sean and Emily, 29.
Sean captioned the photo, “This is one of the most memorable photos of my life. The last time we were all together was at the 30-year Paper Moon Anniversary in 2003. I could cry tears of gratitude that everyone in this photo is still alive and that we were all able to come together again after so many years of hardship. He also included a photo of the quintet from the “Paper Moon” reunion in 2003.
Ryan and Tatum, who starred together in “Paper Moon,” have long had a famously fractured relationship with lengthy periods of estrangement.
In 2009, Ryan told Vanity Fair that he mistakenly hit on Tatum at his long time love Farrah Fawcett’s funeral.
“I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me,” Ryan told the magazine. “I said to her, ‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?’ She said, ‘Daddy, it’s me—Tatum!’ I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it’s my daughter. It’s so sick.”
When asked for comment by the magazine, Tatum said, “That’s our relationship in a nutshell. You make of it what you will. It had been a few years since we’d seen each other, and he was always a ladies’ man, a bon vivant.”
In February, Tatum posted a couple of sweet shots of her with her father, writing that she had attempted to tag the actor “but I think I’m blocked. Which is sort of sad. C’est la vie. I wish him nothing but happiness and health.”
